Michelle moved to the Cool Country with her husband several years ago. She loves the cool crisp mountain air and finds joy and delight in the colours, textures and forms of nature. These elements and emotions inspire her.She has been working with glass for a number of years in many forms including, leadlighting, foiling, fusing and slumping. She enjoys strong mid-century modern colours, as well as the effects of transparency with light traversing through glass, creating warm and energetic impressions.Michelle has studied techniques of working with glass with a number of Victorian based tutors and artists. For the last few years this has included classes at Leadlight by Ettore in Kyneton and Blue Dog Glass in Belgrave.Recently she has extended her glass knowledge to include working sculpturally, pushingtraditional glass making techniques into a contemporary practice as an emerging artist. Her entry into the Trentham Easter Art and Craft Show this year is a sculptural piece of glass work titled “Stepping into Yellow”. The piece explores the effects of transparency and the intensity of colour created with glass volume.
